Poor Helena was somewhat abruptly introduced to our world of the unexpected but never once buckled under the stress of seeing China in the raw. Helping us throughout this time was dedicated volunteer Helena Molloy who had originally come to help us with the bears. Despite everyone putting heart and soul into helping as many dogs as possible, we finally lost a total of 102 of the dogs too sick or too diseased to pull through. That day and the next few weeks will be etched on my mind forever. Twizzle was one of 149 “meat” dogs en-route to the grim live-animal markets of Guangzhou when the truck was intercepted by a Chengdu animal-welfare charity, which called and asked for our help.Īs many of you might remember, New Year's Eve 2008 saw members of our vet, bear and education teams speeding towards the rescue centre and coming face to face with a truck piled high with cages holding squashed and whimpering dogs inside. Such was the journey of Twizzle, who very nearly ended up in a restaurant in southern China at the beginning of 2009. The North Norfolk Railway run trips on their beautiful steam and diesel trains, with Christmas specials starting at the end of November. Not to mention the beautiful Sheringham park, which hosts stunning gardens and wildlife and surrounds Sheringham hall. There’s a range of weekly, monthly and annual activities which take place in and around Sheringham, including festivals, markets, the 1940’s weekend, golfing, bird-watching, seal trips and art galleries. There truly is something for everyone, with the much-loved theatre a popular attraction among locals and tourists alike. Sheringham itself is a bustling hive of activity, with an abundance of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are some amazing rock pools for the kids to explore and all the seaside amenities you could wish for! A short five-minute walk to Sheringham’s award winning blue-flag beach, it’s perfect for a family sandcastle building competition. Nestled in the heart of this traditional and unspoilt seaside town, Twizzle Cottage is conveniently located close to a number of amenities and facilities. Twizzle Cottage is a great spot from which to explore Sheringham and the wider North Norfolk coast, perfect for family holidays and get togethers with friends. Stairgates, highchairs, booster seats and a cot (please bring your own cot bedding) are available alongside toys and games for the children. Outside is a private garden with s eating, including an adorable table and stools shaped from the trunk of a tree. There is also a family bathroom located on the first floor with a bath and hand held shower over and an additional en-suite shower room to the double bedroom. The kitchen is just off from the dining room, making it ideal for large family get togethers and meals.Ī twin bedroom can be found on the ground floor next to the cloakroom. There is also a dishwasher and washing machine. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering holidays, neatly decorated with some homely touches and ornaments.
